a college contacted me

yes you read the title, yes it is ACTUALLY TRUE. so let me give you a backstory.

see right i am VERY interested in aerospace engineering (fields like flight mechanics, aerodynamics, flight design and space exploration) and i decided to create an account on CollegeVine (this one website where you can keep track of college applications, your portfolio, and contact colleges) so that i could find some colleges that offer aerospace engineering as a course. the only limitation of this, however, is that it only has american colleges.

so i updated my portfolio based on my actual scores in ip4 as of now, and created my account as a sophomore (there are LITERALLY no options for Singapore schools/international students in general). so basically right i selected a few colleges, like Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and University of Washington. this step is mandatory btw!

so since i didn't take SAT or ACT i just put 'nil' in there, so i actually didn't think i'd be that appealing to colleges as of now. i just put my GPA (3.75) in there, and I SWEAR. there's this one function where you can see how high your chances are of getting into the college, and my chances for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) was like 89%. LIKE???????? HUH???????

anyway just a few days ago i received a connection request from ERAU. yes. i am not lying. a connection request on CollegeVine. oh my days i was actually so happy but kinda confused because if you look at my portfolio i set up in CollegeVine (BARELY EVEN 20% OF IT WAS KEYED IN BC I WAS LAZY HELPPPPP) you'd immediately reject me if you're an admissions officer. so yeah i accepted it.

then TODAY. i got a message. from ERAU. wait lemme copy paste the message....

Hey Asmita! 👋

I hope you're having a great week! I wanted to reach out because I think Embry-Riddle's Aerospace Engineering program could be an incredible fit for what you're looking for.

Since you're interested in Aerospace Engineering, I thought you'd want to know about some of the hands-on opportunities our students get involved in. We have student-led project teams like ERAU Riddle Rocket Lab, where students design and build rockets that compete nationally, and our AerosPACE team that works on satellite development. Many of our aerospace engineering students also get the chance to work directly with faculty on cutting-edge research in areas like hypersonics, space propulsion, and aircraft design — sometimes as early as their freshman year!

Our campus in Daytona Beach also has amazing facilities, including wind tunnels, a fleet of aircraft for research, and labs equipped with the same technology you'd find in the aerospace industry. Plus, being right here in Florida puts you close to major aerospace companies like Blue Origin, SpaceX, and Lockheed Martin, which means great internship and networking opportunities.

Since you're a sophomore and still exploring your options, I'm curious — what aspects of aerospace engineering excite you most? Are you more drawn to aircraft design, space exploration, propulsion systems, or something else entirely?

like ofc it is ai-generated BUT STILL. THIS IS HUGE.

also just now i got an email from the official ERAU admissions mail saying i "got the potential" and "am a great fit for ERAU" sooooo.....

ANYWAY. i will now be continuing to develop my portfolio, yeah. my grades ain't that bad la but i need to key in my internship at NTU SaRC for gap week. guys i think my life is set???? like there's an ERAU campus in singapore as well so i don't have to go overseas holy moly.... plus if i can somehow clinch a full-ride scholarship that would be AMAZING. then i can go post-grad/masters overseas with my saved-up money :D

ok bye bye
